September 2026

  1. 9 Sep 2026

    PlatformReliability

    Listings API hardened

The public /api/listings endpoint now validates every query parameter, rate-limits each key atomically so a burst of requests can't slip past the daily cap, and returns a complete set of rate-limit headers on every response.

  2. 9 Sep 2026

    DashboardPlatform

    Developers tab reworked

The dashboard Developers tab got a cleaner nav and code blocks, the stray up-right arrows were removed, and the API documentation was corrected to match the live endpoint.

  3. 9 Sep 2026

    Platform

lablab.ai added, listings can carry an image

lablab.ai joined the set of platforms the index pulls from, and listings can now display an image.

  4. 9 Sep 2026

    Mobile

    Mobile polish pass

The sign-in back arrow, the install-prompt placement, the WhatsApp popup timing rule and the More menu all got small fixes on mobile.

  5. 9 Sep 2026

    SEO & content

User-facing copy cleaned of em dashes

Every user-facing string that used an em dash was rewritten so the copy reads consistently across the site.

  6. 9 Sep 2026

    DashboardReliability

Save button no longer freezes the page

Tapping SAVE on a listing could leave the button stuck on "SAVING…" and lock up the rest of the page. It now settles back correctly whether the save succeeds or fails, and a long name can't overflow its row any more.

  7. 9 Sep 2026

    Distribution

    WhatsApp channel growth prompts, tuned

The prompts inviting you to join the WhatsApp channel were reworked so they show at sensible moments and stop repeating once you've joined or dismissed them.

  8. 9 Sep 2026

    ReliabilityPlatform

Telegram approvals survive a flaky connection

The internal Telegram bot used to approve content and handle reports now recovers from network failures instead of getting stuck, and clears its approve / reject buttons once a decision is made.

  9. 8 Sep 2026

    Search & AINew

Ask Brabble runs on a new hybrid search pipeline

Ask Brabble now blends keyword and meaning-based search before it answers, so a loosely worded question lands on the right competitions far more often. It also carries the thread's context between messages instead of treating each one cold.

  10. 8 Sep 2026

    Search & AI

    Ask AI stopped over-filtering

Ask AI sometimes returned "0 matching" because it pushed a category word into the organiser filter, or narrowed a request harder than you asked. Both are fixed.

  11. 8 Sep 2026

    MobileNew

The command dock replaces the mobile tab bar

On phones, the bottom tab bar is gone. In its place is a command dock, one control that opens search, the full site menu and your dashboard, matching the 3A mobile design. The whole set of modals and inputs was retokenised to go with it.

  12. 8 Sep 2026

    NewMobile

The full site index lives in More

Every page, guide, city and platform is now listed and searchable from the More menu, with live counts. You can also subscribe to deadline reminders without giving an email.

  13. 8 Sep 2026

    NewSearch & AI

"Picked for you" on the landing page

A band of competitions matched to what you've saved and registered for, refreshed as you use the site. Not signed in? Answer three quick questions and it fills in. The full set is on the picks page.

  14. 8 Sep 2026

    DashboardPlatform

Developer API page rewritten to match the real API

The dashboard's Developers tab showed a request and response that didn't match the live endpoint. It now shows the real address (/api/listings), the real brbl_ key header, the real filters and a real response body. Your API key is readable on the page, with a note that the full key is shown only once at creation.

  15. 8 Sep 2026

    Dashboard

GitHub grid works the moment you copy it

The activity grid you embed in a GitHub README was 404ing because the share handle was created without being made public. Opening the Share tab now publishes the grid (counts only, never your email or which competitions you entered), so the line you paste renders straight away.

  16. 8 Sep 2026

    DashboardMobile

Dashboard is its own space now

Once you're signed in and on the dashboard, the site's Ask-AI bar and menu are gone. They're for browsing the site, not for working in your list. A back-to-site control sits top-left of the dashboard header instead.

  17. 8 Sep 2026

    Search & AIMobile

Landing search is a keyword search again

The search box on the landing page reads and behaves as a plain keyword search over listings. The Ask-AI field is separate, and the helper line under the box now describes the search rather than Ask AI.

  18. 8 Sep 2026

    Theme

Dark theme across marketing and dashboard pages

The brand band, the marketing panels and the desktop share grid now follow your system theme properly instead of staying light.

  19. 8 Sep 2026

    Reliability

    Feedback is never lost

Feedback you send now falls back to the database if the Telegram relay times out, so a slow network can't drop your message.

  20. 8 Sep 2026

    Sign-in

    Sign-in stalls and drop-offs fixed

A batch of sign-in fixes: the 2 to 3 second stall after pressing "SIGN IN", mobile Google sign-in dropping the credential when it returned from the redirect, first-run onboarding being skipped on a race, and the dashboard chip getting stuck on a placeholder with a stale session.

  21. 8 Sep 2026

    PlatformReliability

    Scrapers now describe every platform

Every source the index pulls from carries a short description now, and a round of LLM-provider fixes stopped enrichment from silently degrading.

  22. 7 Sep 2026

    SEO & content

    Products directory refreshed

The open-source directory now lists the repositories that are actually shipped, with seven more added and the placeholders removed.

  23. 7 Sep 2026

    MobileTheme

    3A mobile-native rebuild begins

The start of the option-3A mobile design: command-dock tokens, a rebuilt More page, a retokenised landing hero and card action strip, and the DASHBOARD chip and feedback lifted out of the header.

  24. 5 Sep 2026

    SEO & contentDistribution

Trend and blog pages, generated and reviewed

A new pipeline drafts SEO trend pages from live search data, sends them to Telegram for a human yes or no, and opens the PR through a remote Claude Code run. First outputs: a hackathon team-name generator with a real interactive component, and posts on students earning from hackathons and "what are hackathons".

  25. 5 Sep 2026

    PlatformReliability

    Analytics history merges without PII

Anonymous PostHog history is now merged server-side when you sign in, and personally identifying details were dropped from the Google Analytics stream.

  26. 5 Sep 2026

    DistributionReliability

    WhatsApp channel stopped rebroadcasting

Hackathons were being posted to the WhatsApp channel again and again. Broadcasts are now tracked per listing so each goes out once.

  27. 4 Sep 2026

    SEO & content

    Organiser and tag pages un-orphaned

Organiser and tag pages had no links pointing at them, so crawlers never reached them. They're now linked, and a missing /tags index page was added.

  28. 2 Sep 2026

    ThemeNew

    Site-wide dark mode

A full dark theme across the site, following your system setting. Several follow-up passes fixed borders and shadows that had inverted into a glowing cage, opacity modifiers that silently did nothing, and the dashboard's "Recommended for you" section that the first pass missed.

  29. 2 Sep 2026

    Search & AI

    Chatbot keeps Brabble links in-tab

The chatbot now navigates in the same tab for Brabble's own links and only opens a new tab for external ones. Internal links it suggested were also cleaned up.

  30. 2 Sep 2026

    Search & AIPlatform

Chatbot eval loop and personalised feed

An internal evaluation loop for the chatbot, a personalised feed, and a Mettl connector were added.

August 2026

  1. 21 Aug 2026

    MobileNew

    Mobile redesign ships

A complete mobile-native redesign: a three-step onboarding, a rebuilt sign-in flow, a brutalist filter banner with a single slideable row of filter chips, redesigned bottom-nav icons, a compact boot loader, and facet cards brought onto the standard 3A card style. Unauthenticated visitors to the dashboard are sent to /sign-in.

  2. 18 Aug 2026

    Distribution

WhatsApp community popup can be turned off

The popup prompting you to join the WhatsApp community is now suppressible, and a duplicate-broadcast bug was fixed with explicit sent-listing tracking.

  3. 16 Aug 2026

    Platform

Database moved from MongoDB to Supabase

The whole data layer was migrated off Prisma and MongoDB onto Supabase (Postgres). No visible change if all went well, but it's the foundation the semantic search, recommendations and analytics history are built on.

  4. 16 Aug 2026

    DashboardNew

    Tabbed dashboard rebuild

The dashboard was rebuilt as a standalone tabbed layout matching the mockup specs, with a persona, a Brabble score and an avatar system. Share cards now show real entered and finished counts and a real year-length GitHub grid.

  5. 16 Aug 2026

    PlatformDistribution

    Twice-daily KPI report to Telegram

A cron job now posts a KPI poster to Telegram twice a day, and an on-demand /report command returns the same poster with acknowledgement and error messages. Fonts are bundled into the poster so it renders identically everywhere.

  6. 16 Aug 2026

    SEO & content

About page: real founders and links

Real founder content, photos and corrected social links across the about page, plus the homepage legend and my-list status control fixed.

  7. 15 Aug 2026

    Platform

    PostHog analytics with consent gating

PostHog analytics was added with consent gating and engagement tracking, plus LLM observability for Ask Brabble and enrichment so we can see where answers go wrong. Page views are counted on client-side navigations, not just first load.

  8. 15 Aug 2026

    DashboardReliability

    Dashboard navigation jank fixed

Moving to the dashboard was janky: no instant skeleton, serial queries, the account menu staying open after navigation, and the boot loader replaying on every visit or sticking at 0/N on first load. All addressed, with the loading skeleton replaced by a boot-log animation.

  9. 14 Aug 2026

    Sign-inNewSearch & AI

Optional Google sign-in and Ask Brabble chat

Google sign-in became optional and One-Tap-primary, with a semantic search rebuild behind Ask Brabble, a dashboard, activity tracking, and page-wise pagination. Deadline dates now show the year when they fall in a future year.

  10. 14 Aug 2026

    Distribution

WhatsApp poster broadcasts and a link-tree page

WhatsApp poster broadcasts, a link-tree page, and self-hosted short links on links.brabble.ai. Broadcasts are batched so the channel isn't spammed.

  11. 13 Aug 2026

    Platform

    More sources: MachineHack, MyCareernet, TechGig

MachineHack and MyCareernet adapters were added along with an isHiring flag, and TechGig joined the curated platform directory.

  12. 12 Aug 2026

    SEO & content

    Guide catalog expanded to 19

The guide catalog grew to nineteen pages, with hackathon guides and monthly upcoming digests added for generative-engine visibility, a feedback-to-Telegram loop, and Guides surfaced in the top header nav rather than only the footer.

  13. 11 Aug 2026

    DistributionPlatform

    WhatsApp broadcaster: multi-account, DB sessions

The WhatsApp broadcaster was rebuilt for multiple accounts with database-backed session management, and a GitHub Actions workflow now runs it on a schedule.

  14. 7 Aug 2026

    Distribution

    WhatsApp channel prompts redesigned

The WhatsApp channel prompts became an on-load popup plus a standing bottom bar, and the broadcaster project was initialised with a CLI, a limit option, and a calendar link in each broadcast message.

  15. 7 Aug 2026

    ReliabilitySEO & content

    Source reliability: retries, www redirect

The dead DoraHacks adapter was retired and transient source-fetch failures now retry. www is redirected to the apex domain to match the declared canonical.

  16. 7 Aug 2026

    Platform

GA4 event tracking across the listing funnel

Google Analytics 4 event tracking was added across the full listing funnel.

  17. 6 Aug 2026

    SEO & contentNew

    Programmatic SEO architecture

A programmatic SEO architecture generating indexable pages per city, platform, tag and series, with structured-data schemas (CollectionPage, EventSeries), GEO improvements, a college and MBA students hub, and sharpened facet copy for click-through.

July 2026

  1. 31 Jul 2026

    Platform

Daily scraper workflow and more sources

A daily GitHub Actions scraper workflow was added, the brutalist filter UI was refined, the AtCoder and HackerRank scrapers were fixed, and the Kaggle Bearer API was integrated.

  2. 28 Jul 2026

    New

    Listing details open in place

Tapping a listing now opens its deadline, prize, mode, fee and eligibility in place instead of sending you off to a signup wall. The page stays crawlable and nobody is redirected.

  3. 28 Jul 2026

    NewDistribution

Shareable index: calendar feeds, prize tracker, open dataset

The index became shareable, with add-to-calendar feeds, a prize tracker, and an open dataset, and share cards rendered in a serverless function. A database hiccup can no longer fail the build.

  4. 28 Jul 2026

    SEO & contentPlatform

    Programmatic SEO: 40 indexable pages

Forty indexable pages with structured data and a non-blocking loader, four more sources (MLH, ETHGlobal, Internshala, Kaggle), whole-feed reads instead of first-page sampling, client-recomputed countdowns so they can't go stale, and fixed city matching.

  5. 28 Jul 2026

    New

Homepage becomes a live opportunity index

The launch: the marketing site was redesigned in a paper and brutalist theme and the homepage turned into a live index of open competitions and hackathons.
