How this is counted, and where it is imperfect

01. Open listings only, so this is activity and not history

An organiser appears here because something of theirs is open today. Nothing is remembered after it closes, so a college that ran a large event last month is absent until it runs the next one. That makes this a measure of what is happening now rather than of prestige.

02. Spellings are merged, but only the obvious ones

Case and punctuation are normalised, so "IIT Bombay" and "I.I.T. Bombay" are one row. Genuinely different names for the same institution are left separate, because merging them would mean guessing, and a wrong merge is worse than two honest rows.

03. Educational or not is read from the name

Words like institute, university, college, IIT, NIT, IIM and student chapter put an organiser in the first table. It is a rule about names, so a company with "academy" in its title can land on the wrong side of it.

04. Only organisers with two or more are ranked

One open listing makes a page but not a ranking. The full count above includes everyone; the tables need two.
